Android applications are written in Java language.
They are then compiled by the Java Development Kit (JDK) .
The result is standard Java byte code ( the known .class files).
Finally the conversion to Android .dex file format takes place.
This way, Android 's Software Development Kit (SDK) relies on the Java Development Kit.
Even Android 's API obviously seems to be very much related to the JavaSE model.
Despite of all the "techie" stuff above, one should simply realize that software has always been changing and improving very fast.
Java has been adopted as a new technology from major vendors and companies, also because of its ability to run on different platforms/devices
and minimum resources. Then comes Android to add more to it.
